The Initial Range aka opening range set for each session is a significant event i.e. significant indicator - market profile® students consider the Initial balance aka opening range as the range of the first 30minutes & 60 minutes. Other trading methods consider the initial balance aka opening range as the first 5 minute, 15 or 30 minutes of trading, and others consider the first 90 minutes of trading as IB opening range. Our Initial balance indicator can plot any of these IB opening range variations. Designed as tradestation add-on and includes functions enabling further expandability by the client.

• Initial balance Indicator identifies the range; High / Low range of a user specified trading period and up to 4 extensions from IB high/low above and below IB range see image below. These extensions work off a multiplier that is entirely controlled by the user via indicator inputs. The trading period is a user input and can be set to any time period ranging from 1 minute to entire trading sessions time period. The start of the initial balance period is identified automatically if the IB start-point is at the start of the session. If IB start-point is within the session, the start of the initial balance can be specified via BeginTime input. IB indicator will function on RTH or 24hour session, IB indicator will function only on intraday time based charts.   

• Initial balance Functions are included, two functions provided, one that calls forward the initial balance high and another that calls forward the initial balance low. The combination of these functions will allow you to customize / create other initial balance studies / indicators as well as perform back test.
